When making these decisions, the agency will seek to take into account not only cost savings over the long term, but also seek to mitigate or avoid adverse social and environmental costs, such as impacts on low-income communities, air quality, and greenhouse gas emissions.

Update Description

DOT will develop a methodology for triple bottom line analysis of major DOT capital projects.

In Progress

DOT has begun to explore new methods for quantifying the social, economic, and environmental benefits of projects, to enable the wider use of cost-benefit analysis in capital project decision making.  

Medium-Term Milestones (by end of 2021)


Update Description

DOT will subject all DOT capital projects or programs over $20 million to this analysis and use the results to more efficiently allocate capital resources.
